US House Committee Requests Epstein 'Birthday Book' From Estate

A recent court filing regarding the late Jeffrey Epstein reveals that the US House Committee on Ethics is interested in obtaining a "birthday book" from his estate.

The book, given to Epstein on his birthday each year, is suspected to hold clues about his alleged crimes. The request to obtain the book comes after a court ruling that his estate, worth $23 million, should be handed over to the US Treasury.

Epstein's Crimes and Victims

Epstein, a wealthy financier, was accused of sexually abusing at least 30 victims, many of them underage, over several decades. He was arrested in 2006 for sexual abuse and was subsequently sentenced to 18 months in jail, after which he was released under an alias.

In 2019, he was posthumously convicted of trafficking two teenage girls and sentenced to life in prison.

The 'Birthday Book' Sought After

The "birthday book" was a tradition started by Epstein's brother, who would ask friends and family to write messages on the anniversary of his birth. The book became a collection of messages from notable individuals, including former President Clinton.

Now, the House Committee believes that the book might contain valuable information relevant to their investigation into Epstein's dealings.

Court's Decision on the Estate

Last week, a district judge ruled that the estate should be handed over to the US Treasury, citing that the estate was worth more than the $2 million needed to pay off Epstein's debts.

The decision has been met with disappointment from the victims' advocacy group, stating that the assets should have been used to support the victims of Epstein's crimes.
