An eyewitness aboard a second carriage of the funicular railway in Lisbon, Portugal, captured the horrific moment of devastation on video when the funicular railway crashed, killing 16 people and injuring more than 20.

Passenger recounts feeling the carriage move uphill before slipping downhill

Rasha Abdo was in the carriage at the bottom of the hill when she felt it beginning to move up the hill before it suddenly began sliding quickly back down. Children can be heard screaming as the carriage appears to jolt.

Some passengers were hurt when the second carriage came to an abrupt stop at the bottom of the hill, she said.

The funicular railway on one of Lisbon's most iconic tourist attractions, the Glória funicular railway, derailed and crashed on Wednesday.
