Man sets fire to check-in area at Milan's Malpensa airport

Arson at one of the busiest airports in Italy

A man has set fire to the check-in area at Milan's Malpensa airport, one of Italy's busiest airports. The incident occurred at around 11am local time on Tuesday, August 20th. The fire was swiftly extinguished by airport staff and no injuries were reported.

Witnesses reported that the man, aged around 50, was acting strangely before the fire and had been refused travel on a previous occasion. Airport officials have stated that the incident caused minor disruptions to passenger check-in, but the airport is still open and flights are not affected.

The incident is currently being investigated by local authorities.
