Huge Drugs Bust Exposes Battles on Cocaine 'Superhighway'

A massive drugs seizure has shed light on the secretive global trade in cocaine, with authorities uncovering evidence of a sophisticated smuggling operation involving multiple countries. The large haul of cocaine, estimated to have a street value of around £80 million, was discovered by the Border Force at the Port of Dover in England.

Operation Targets UK-Trafficked Cocaine

The Border Force seized the drugs onboard a freight container holding steel coils that had been imported from Colombia, one of the biggest cocaine-producing countries in the world. It's believed the cocaine was smuggled into the steel coils and was bound for distribution hubs in London and the Midlands. The coils were x-rayed and subsequently each manually searched, which resulted in the discovery of 350 packages containing the Class A drug.

Crackdown on UK Drugs Threat

The National Crime Agency (NCA) has stepped in and is now investigating the case, hoping to track down the criminals who were responsible for the import attempt. Officials have commented that the seizure was significant and will help in disrupting the threat of organised crime groups that are targeting the UK with large volumes of drugs, which fuel crime and violence.
